I’m sure you are asking what in the world is this girl talking about. Well ask yourself are you trying to put rims on a hoopty when it is concerning your life?
Well, let’s break it down first. A hoopty is an old worn out car.
“Can be any size, make or model, but must (or should) be embarrassing to drive for some reason, such as when you bump the stereo all the plastic “effects” you have hot-glued to the exterior rattle, instantly betraying the cheapness of your bling.
A hoopty can be anything from a ’78 Cadillac Brogham with the panels missing in front of the brake lights (but replaced on only one side with duct tape), to a fine purple two-year-old Hyundai Elantra with three spinner hubcaps and a vanity plate that reads BBY GRL.( Retrieved from https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=hoopty)
I’m also going to add that most hoopties are tore up but most of them have those big O shinny wheels just a spinning.
So, when we apply that same definition to our life, we have to ask these questions.
- Are we trying to live beyond our means?
- As we are trying to live beyond our means are we trying to get better things in life?
- Is our life able to handle those bigger rims at all?
- Do we spend more time trying to make others believe that our lives are better than what they really are?
- Do we spend more time duct taping our lives instead of truly fixing the problem?
So now you are asking yourself who does this girl think she is?
Well, I’m going to tell you that I do feel that others may think my life is all glam. I truly do believe that I’m constantly trying to make sure that I’m doing my best for me and my child and trying to keeping my head above water physically, figuratively, mentally, and always spiritually. So as I keep doing these things, I hope that I don’t reach hooptie status. I say that even though my car is missing a rim ( that particular one just keeps falling off) and my windshield looks like a spider web ( I just replaced it Jan. and a rock hit it again so…..) Long story short I’m a work in progress, like the rest of us.
I read an article that putting larger wheels on a vehicle than the ones with which it left the factory can cause problems for the overall car. ( money.cnn.com)
I also believe that when you are trying to be something that you aren’t can cause pain to yourself and others.
We go through life always trying to achieve more so that others can look at us with a certain persona. Sometimes we care so much about what others think, that our life (our hooptie) isn’t getting the proper care that it needs. I do believe that we judge and jump to conclusions about individuals in our lives to fast.
OUR assumptions are wrong about others, truly, OUR assumptions are wrong about ourselves. We have to take a real look in the mirror and ask ourselves those questions above. We have to ask the tough questions and make changes before its too late. Remember the hooptie is already falling apart and then we just slapped some rims on it, which only makes a bigger problem.
So by now, we say I don’t want to be a hooptie with rims, I don’t want to just put aband-aidd on my life, and I dont want to live outside my means, just to please others. So what shall we do.
First, take a breath, in the last blog we talked about steps to take charge of the day.
- Take control of the life you have
Did you try out the app Wunderlist https://www.wunderlist.com/download
Wunderlist helps keep your life in sync. It helps you not only make to do list but also share it with others, so you don’t have so much do. It sets reminders hashtags, send emails, and even print out your todo’s.
2. Stay on budget
I see a good app is Goodbudgethttp:// ( https://goodbudget.com) it has really good reviews and I will do a detail look into it as well. If you have used, please leave comments below
3. Stop trying to keep up with Jones’
Understand that your things, your job, your kids, your weight, your spirtually fits your life. Always trying to get more, always trying to have the best picture on facebook, instagram, twitter and snapchat( by the way it only last 24 hours) isnt worth not staying on budget. So clip a coupon, dont be afarid to use groupon, learn how to save more money as you still do things in life ( we will alwyas talk about saving money) and I love to see in the comments best pratcices to save money ( Hey that should be a blog ; )
4. Be happy with what you have achieve already
The life you have built didnt come easy. It didnt come with out some brusises along the way. So celebate that you have made it this far. Shout out loud that you wake up everyday with another day to keep going. Look down at your family and let thier smiles warm your heart ( YOU did that).
5. Take care of the hooptie
My spritual mom says that you should do something nice for yourself each week. This isnt like peforming regular mantince on your car. Regular maintance in life is taking a shower on a daily basis. Taking care of the hooptie would be to take a bubble bath instead. So you don’t have to spend money to treat yourself, sometimes you just need some time alone with yourself.
So we have went around a big bush today. This one topic can and should open up so many topics in our households. We found out what a hooptie is and how rims apply to our lives. We understand that if we strive to live outside our means and put bigger size wheels then what the factory gave us we are asking for trouble. There are apps that can make our lives less hetic. We have to take care oursleves. I hope that this little blog will inspire converstations, so we can actually be happy with the person in the mirror. We should do what we aspire to do. If we want to open a blog, do it, we all need a means of living( I would love to help) ( thats another blog as well) If we want to make a cherry pie, do it.. We want to go to China on vacation, do it… This whole blog channel is about letting go of the fears and doing what we strive to do….
I would love to help, so if you have an idea of what you want to do and just dont know where to start, Send an email about it. I’m really good at finding infromation and I really love learning new things. I can help steer you on the right course… So till we chat again
